Free download, just for today, of Picturebox covering “Papernut Cambridge” by Papernut Cambridge, courtesy of Gare Du Nord Records!
"Robert Halcrow’s Picturebox are a ray of Kentish pop sunshine and great friends of Gare Du Nord. Robert has played brass parts on the Rotifer album and is a major collaborator in Papernut Cambridge, playing bass, brass, keys etc on the "Cambridge Nutflake" album. Ian also plays drums on a few Picturebox tracks. Picturebox’s first version of Papernut Cambridge’s eponymous anthem was a rather disconcerting avant-garde electronic soundscape. Gare Du Nord are ‘in talks’ about making that version available separately in the future, perhaps as a release in its own right!! - but Mr Halcrow & co have also kindly sent this brilliant lo-fi-Canterbury-bubblegum version……."
If you missed the free one day download, make sure you visit http://garedunordrecords.bandcamp.com/ in October when the whole “Ebbsfleet International” compilation will be available to buy.
Short, part-animated homemade video for “I Stamp On Bee”. Lo-fi Canterbury pop. This video and song are in no way intended to encourage unfriendliness to bees in the real world.
Thanks to Stephen Evans for the stamping and Philip Halcrow for the drawing (and pun).
The Soft Machine - Why Are We Sleeping?
Good old Kevin Ayers, 1944-2013.
People should listen to this song because it’s really, really good. That’s all.
